Case Study:
A food delivery app

Project
Design a food app for Urban and semi-urban working professionals who want to use an app that is intuitive and visually appealing so they can order quickly. Design for a visual experience in the app that makes users feel like they are ordering off the same menu they would order from in person

Idea:
Through user interviews, I found all my users wanted a more visual menu when ordering from a restaurant through apps like Chownow, Grubhub, and Caviar. People want photos of the actual food they were ordering and information they would normally see on the restaurant's menu, ie, calling out when something is vegan or gluten-free.

Analysis

After interviewing users and compiling what apps they currently use and what they do and don’t like about them I came up with a few sketches for making the menu visually appealing, clean, and easy to use. I made sure to include functionality that was called out by users as features they really liked having.

User Experience testing

After creating a working prototype I began user testing to collect feedback on what was working and what wasn’t. The information I recorded was valuable in steering the project in a better direction functionally and visually. I updated the landing page and login page of the app based on feedback from user testers.
